Wow this... adaption and change from the novel, interesting...an illusion! Wow got us fooled in the last episode

And so those who stand in Shi Hao's way will be destroyed from now on *evil laugh*

Youtube Addict • 1 year ago

Well, it seems those speculations about it being an illusion were spot on.

As I’ve said last week, I like this change. It’s definitely more realistic especially when you look at the reaction from the 19th Prince. At least he doesn’t seem so much like a tool compared to the novel where he comes in just to give in to Shi Hao and then disappears forever. The Shi Chong in the novel is very much like Qin Ming in Soul Land where he appeared just to drive the arc of Shrek moving to the Tiandou Imperial School and later to the present day Shrek Academy.

However I do have a gripe though. They should have shown SH being a bit more defiant instead of just accepting his fate. If there’s one theme that is consistent throughout the novel, it would be the unyielding attitude of the MC. I don’t want to spoil too much but non-readers should know that SH never once gives in to fate or destiny. He does lament and even worries about it, but he also persistently forges his own path and never once succumbs to defeat. Even if he’s really defeated, deep in his heart he has never surrendered to his enemies nor to fate. This is perhaps what I like most about him.

I was reading the comments from all the earlier episodes and there were a few commenters who thought the MC is full of plot armours and had it easy with his cultivation. They couldn’t be more wrong. If they had read the novel, they would know that things never really fall from the sky for him. I’d even say that SH has the most pitiful and gruelling life among all the other MCs that I’ve read. It was as if the author only has one intention in mind: to torture the MC in all ways imaginable. Every time when I thought it can’t get any worse, it does!

Anyway, I don’t recommend reading the novel unless you have tons of patience and you see fluffs as a form of entertainment. But the story is indeed very deep and profound, only if one persists till the last page.

*third time lucky*

lol mhm totally agree, the changes was nicer, I was a tad worried last week

Yeah compared with Tang San, Shi Hao had it even worse. Sure certain plot armor occurs but it isnt like

Tiandou emperor - here Tang San have this heirloom of mine that is in
my family for generations, Oh it is part of the Sea God trident
Poison Douluo kidnaps him, oh it is Fire and Ice Pool which is great for cultivation
Kills a spirit beast and gets a spider external spirit bone
The list goes on, Shi Hao toils, works harder than most with the aim of
protecting himself, his family and friends, unlike Tang San, Xiaaaaao
Wuuuuuu, only you, my only true, little gurl , ok last word didnt rhyme. Queues
in The Platters - Only you. The donghua makes Shi Hao gains these things
so easily but sadly it isnt the case, he always had to fight every tooth
and nail to get to his current point. He doesnt have a master either,
and through everything, he never gives up on his friends. Yeah the novel
is filled with fluff and is darker than Soul Land towards latter half
of the novel.

My fav scene: my poor boi got wasted away in the prison! When I saw his platinum white hair, I felt like shouting like @douluo: “Make it stay!” But then he’s all wrinkled and withered! Lol!! Damn, can’t have the cake and eat it too!

I’d prefer they let his hair down, it would better fit the description of a demonic God that can go on a rampage at any time, and not like a “milk baby”. But I do like his relish for beast milk! Lol!!

Anyway, I’m enjoying PW more than DD now. Of course Fanren is still unbeatable. Let’s hope they keep up the good work!

Dase • 1 year ago

lol I was about to suggest we move our conversation over here or Fanren's and leave Soul Land, who knows more people might post there, since I get the feeling that our conversations sometimes overwhelm them. They see our posts, oh gawd them again, and stop posting lol

Youtube Addict • 1 year ago

I’m not even sure if @douluo and @vio watch PW. I don’t think I’ve seen their comments. Maybe Fanren’s a better place but then again, I feel like there’s more to rant here about PW than Fanren. The latter is almost without blemish (so far). Since the production studio took the liberty to completely reinvent the story, even if I had read the novel, I won’t be able to predict or speculate anything. As a comparison, PW donghua still sticks to the novel more than Fanren’s.

Dase • 1 year ago

Yeah, Soul Land up to the Sea God arc followed the novel closely, for the most part Perfect World is the same, only difference is that Perfect World do cut a lot of content or shorten the content, BTTH cuts a lot of content but uses narration as a way to explain what happened, some minor changes but not a great deal. Fanren is like a fresh of breath air, I guess it does follow the important parts, and connects each chapter's title, but the content of each chapter is changed to make the pacing faster and less boring than the novel.

I cant remember if you watched it, but try Yong Sheng, the changes is like Fanren lol

fujohohoe • 1 year ago

true, you can see that for the author to torture SH, they had to make the enemy becoming more and more ridiculous with their contempt kekw

Now i just gotta sit at home twiddling my thumbs until the next episode releases? Camaaaaaaaaaann! 😭

Dase • 1 year ago

Can always read the novel so you know what will happen, although there are some differences with this episode and last episode, if you already read it, you can ignore me 😉

Tung Sten Long • 1 year ago

Lol I haven't. To be honest, I came across donghua on gogo very recently and have been binge watching in between my work schedule ever since. Its kinda addictive. So this is the first time I've actually come across any of these titles. I've read a couple cultivation novels: I shall seal the heavens, a thousand li, silver fox and the western hero, cradle, dragon heart (last two are more psuedo-cultivation with LitRPG type systems).

Guess what I'm trying to ask is, "Where do I find the books? Kindle Unlimited?"

Dase • 1 year ago

I read the Chinese ones, but for translated ones you can go to wuxiaworld, novelupdates and novelfull. These ones are free to read, although I think novelupdate started to use points system where you can only read one chapter a day or gain more points by clicking on things. Dont go to kindle, some opportunists often take the translated work and pass it as his translation, not all, just some, you are better off paying for points to support the translators on some of the webnovel sites.

If you have trouble searching for the novels on those sites, just go to the donghua's summary page and copy and paste the Chinese title and search that instead.

If you havent watched Doupo Caongqiong, you ought to start, season 5 is about to start by the end of this month, but you need to ignore the 1990s graphics lol. Fanren Xiu Xian Chuan is another good donghua to watch, I think I have a list on Tunshi Xingkong (Swallowed Star) I should have added Yong Sheng and Dragon's Disciple as well.

Pretty sure some helpful readers here can give additional webnovel sites. I cant give the links directly since this forum deletes it as spam

Tung Sten Long • 1 year ago

Ahhh thanks for the heads up on how to find these gems. Appreciate it. I'll be sure to give it a young look-see. I noticed that the KU translations are also a bit off at times. My only real gripe (if you could even call it that) is the technique names take up most of the sentences lol. I even skipped reading whole technique names because reading "yellow-purple jade pendant lightning saber cuts into 3" every other sentence was making ny head spin. (Made that technique up on the fly. Sounds dangerous though)

I've watched Doupo and am awaiting S5. The graphics at the beginning was a lil off putting. It's one of the biggest reasons I avoided CG tbh. But it's tickets once you get used to em. Lmao I'm now dabbling in the poorer CG as well just to feed the insatiable beast my donghua appetite has become.

Also watching Tunshi and watched Yong Sheng as well. D.Disciple didn't really appeal to me. I watched a couple eps but ditched it coz I can't seem to stomach that MC nor the world the series is set in. I love these medieval type settings. I dunno man, seeing a dude in a jeans, tee and kicks cultivating is weird to me. Quanzhi Fashi not included.

Dase • 1 year ago

lol welcome to the world of donghua then.

Ahh if you havent watched it already, Wudong Qiankun is a companion piece to Doupo Cangqiong, a 3 episode special will be released on the 17th July and Season 5 on the 31 July, Da Zhu Zai the sequel to both will be released on the 14 Oct

Tunshi Xingkong is one of my favourite novel, it would have been my favourite if the author made Xu Xin appear more and didnt have that stupid ending :P King's avatar, Soul Land, The Great Ruler, Perfect World are among my favourites but Doupo Cangqiong is my favourite novel

Fanren donghua good, novel boring lol I had to skip chapters just to read the romance bits, then went back and started from chapter one again

That bitch is really getting on my nerves, I don't know why Shi Hao is so obsessed with her, annoying asf.

The most irritating cliffhanger rver

Tung Sten Long • 1 year ago

The illusion? Yeah, I was a lil confused for a sec, too.

With all those dragon power, he didn't beat even one of his opponents. They are just equal in power. So what's the use of the dragon emperor power? He is going to beat them using that mysterious grass which he already has even before he was selected to be the new emperor.

Youtube Addict • 1 year ago

Don’t think he even exerted himself yet. Wait till he goes full power! Apparently the Dragon Seal can boost his power, so his grass sword’s power is multiplied. As long as he’s in the vicinity of the palace, the dragon aura will make him (almost) invincible.

Wasn't expecting everything to be an illusion, but wasn't surprised that Shi Hao.. Chaos Heavenly Emperor regaining/never lost his powers either.
